SARAH LYNCH

Managing Partner

LLB (Hons), DIP.LP NP

01698 373365

Sarah Lynch is the Managing Partner at Pomphreys. Sarah studied at Dundee University, achieving a 2:1 LLB Honours degree in Scots Law. She then moved back to Glasgow to study the Diploma in Legal Practice, being one of only a small number of students to be offered a funded position for academic excellence achieved during the LLB. Sarah then secured a traineeship concentrating on Personal Injury before deciding to broaden her scope of work to all civil litigation. We recently caught up with Sarah to discuss her role in Pomphreys.

How did you end up in this role?

I began my employment with Pomphreys in June 2015, just before my 30th birthday. Before that, I had worked in various roles, but knew general chambers work and specifically litigation and private client were of most interest to me. Initially employed as an assistant solicitor, I progressed quickly to associate before making Partner. Gordon Sommerville and I had a close working relationship, and in turn, I was afforded more management responsibilities. In time, I became an equity Partner before being given the opportunity to take over as Managing Partner from Gordon, a role which I feel honoured to take.

What aspects of your job do you find most fulfilling?

As expected, getting results for your client is always the aim. I strive to ensure that all clients of the firm experience excellent service and seek to ensure that our high standards are maintained.

Could you describe your day at Pomphreys?

It is a cliché, but each day is different. I am very much hands-on with clients and still have my own case load. I balance that with the management obligations daily. However, I could and can only do this, though, as I have a great team supporting me.

What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?

I have two young children, aged 6 and 3, so most of my time outside of work is spent with them and my husband. That makes me very happy. Otherwise, I like to socialise with friends and (occasionally) work out and go running. We also love to travel as a family.

What do you appreciate most about working at Pomphreys?

Pomphreys has an extremely loyal client base which we are forever grateful for. I like to think that this is reflected in the service our clients receive. I, personally, am grateful to our staff many of whom have been with us for many years. Without them the firm wouldn’t function.
