Joe Rowan is an Assistant Solicitor at Pomphreys, Solicitors, Wishaw, based in our Kennilworth Road office. We recently caught up with Joe and had a chat about his time at Pomphreys.
How did you end up in this role?
After years as a legal advisor with a football club, I decided it was time to get back into mainstream law, preferably in a conveyancing or private client role, areas of law I’ve always enjoyed. Happily, for me, such a position became available at Pomphreys around the same time, and I was delighted to become part of the firm.
What aspects of your job do you find most fulfilling?
Helping clients through what can be a significant and stressful moment in their lives is the most rewarding aspect of my job. I also enjoy the problem-solving aspect of the role. Not a week goes by without a case that requires your attention to find a resolution.
Could you describe your day at Pomphreys?
A typical day at Pomphreys begins by checking the post and emails, then planning my day ahead. Usually, I’ll check title deeds and revise formal papers in the morning and keep afternoons for appointments, drafting papers, and examining more complex legal matters. However, you never know what each day will bring, but this variety is very engaging.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
“The usual stuff…” reading, cooking, a bit of travel. I really enjoy city breaks in the UK and Europe, but I think I’ve completely exasperated my family when it comes to visiting castles.
What do you appreciate most about working at Pomphreys?
It might sound a bit unoriginal, but it really is working with professional, supportive, and friendly colleagues. I’ve never been faced with an issue that one of my colleagues has not been able to assist with or cast a fresh eye over. Pomphreys has really built a great team.
