How did you end up in this role?

I completed my two-year traineeship with The McKinstry Company in Ayr. After that, I obtained a court solicitor position with Cartys Solicitors in Hamilton for a year before applying for a court position with Pomphreys, which commenced in June 1997

What aspects of your job do you find most fulfilling?

Helping clients through difficult times, such as contact/residence issues with their children and to reach an agreement in separation/divorce matters

Could you describe your day at Pomphreys?

Dealing with mail/emails, telephone calls and meetings, drafting documents and detailed responses to correspondence from clients and other solicitors. I work with my secretary, Kaitlyn, in relation to the administration and progress of files, considering reports and providing advice on telephone calls and during meetings. My job involves attending court hearings and video conference calls, applying for legal aid where relevant and preparing legal aid accounts when the case is finalised.

What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?

I have played tennis since I was 10 years old. As a member of Hamilton Tennis Club (35 years), I play competitively in the West of Scotland leagues. I am a passionate mountain climber and climb/hike in both Scotland and further afield. Having completed the Munros round in 2003, I am close to completing my second (26 to go!). I also enjoy travelling and spending quality time with family and friends.

What do you appreciate most about working at Pomphreys?

Being a part of a firm that assisted me in progressing my legal career and to specialize in family law
