Gordon Sommerville is a Consultant Solicitor with Pomphreys, having formerly been the Managing Partner.
He is also a Director with Enable Trustee Service Limited, and deals with financial planning for family members who have learning difficulties or disabilities, including the formation of Discretionary Trusts.
How did you end up in this role?
I joined Pomphreys after finishing my Traineeship in a Glasgow law firm in 1979, becoming a Partner in Pomphreys in 1981.
I lead the Private Client department and have extensive experience in dealing with Estate Planning and Succession, Wills, Executry Estates, Powers of Attorney, and Guardianship Orders.
What aspects of your job do you find most fulfilling?
Meeting with and interacting with clients and staff.
Could you describe your day at Pomphreys?
Generally, I have appointments on the days I am in the office with clients relating to Private Client matters. I enjoy discussing clients’ requirements for their Wills and Powers of Attorney. Also, I deal with the estates of clients who have, sadly, passed away.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
Outwith Office hours I enjoy walking, playing golf, holidays and following my local football team, Motherwell F.C.
